I can apply for asylum if I consider myself in danger in my country of origin. In this way, I ask for the protection of France.
Step 1: make a request
To apply for asylum, I must contact a SPADA (First Reception Structure for Asylum Seekers).
➡️ If I am in Île-de-France, I must call the OFII telephone platform number at 01 42 50 09 00 to have an appointment at SPADA. The call center is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
⚠️ Warning: It is sometimes necessary to call the OFII telephone number several times to get an answer.
➡️ If I am not in Île-de-France , I must go directly to the SPADA of the department where I am.
Once I have contacted a SPADA, I am given an appointment at the One Stop Shop for Asylum Seekers (GUDA) to register my asylum application (between 3 and 10 days).
Step 2: the appointment following my request
At GUDA, I meet the OFII and the Prefecture who register my asylum application and place me in one of three asylum procedures: normal, accelerated and Dublin.
The OFII offers me the Allowance for Asylum Seekers at the time of registration (money received every month on a special card) and can offer me accommodation in Ile-de-France or in the provinces. This is a “ package ", if I refuse the accommodation offered I lose the right to Asylum Seekers' Allowance and accommodation in a center for asylum seekers .
Once I have submitted my asylum application, I am in a legal situation, the asylum application certificate serves as a residence document.
