If I am disabled due to illness or disability after an accident, I can have this situation recognized . By being recognized as having a disability, I can benefit from appropriate assistance. It is important that I discuss this with my doctor .
➡️ How to do it?
To have my disability recognized, I must contact the Departmental House for Disabled Persons (MDPH) . There is an MDPH in each department. I have to contact the MDPH of the department in which I live. I must send the MDPH an application form , containing a medical certificate to be completed by a doctor.
In addition to requesting recognition of the disability, I can express specific needs and requests for assistance. The MDPH will also study these requests.
When the MDPH recognizes a disability, it recognizes a level of incapacity. If I have a disability rate of 50% or 80% I am entitled to special assistance.
➡️ What help can I get?
The rights and assistance offered by the MDPH can be :
- Recognition of the status of disabled worker allowing the right to specific support in the job search and adaptation of the workstation ;
- The Allowance for Disabled Adults (AAH) , corresponding to financial assistance calculated according to resources (€903.6 per month maximum) for people with a recognized disability rate of more than 80% or for people with a disability rate of more than 50% with recognized difficulty in accessing employment ;
- A Disability Compensation Benefit (PCH) allowing you to obtain assistance in daily life ;
- The Disabled Child Education Allowance (AEEH) which compensates for the costs of education and care provided to a disabled child.
- Referral to a medical accommodation facility if necessary ;
- A Mobility Inclusion Card which allows me to have priority in accessing a seat on transport or to have priority in queues;
- Etc.
⚠️ I do not need to have a residence permit to be recognized as having a disability. Please note, however, I need a residence permit to obtain the assistance offered by the MPDH.
