When I am pregnant, I am advised to meet with my doctor during the first 3 months of pregnancy. My doctor will then explain to me what are the different tests that I must carry out throughout my pregnancy.
To benefit from medical monitoring throughout my pregnancy or medical monitoring for my young child , I can go to a Maternal and Child Protection (PMI) service in my department. My department is the department where I live or where I have my domicile.
💡 Monitoring in Maternal and Child Protection (PMI) services for pregnant women and children under 3 years old is free and is accessible to all women who reside in the department, even without health coverage.
- If I do not have health coverage , I can , in addition to the Maternal and Child Protection Service and if my situation requires more extensive medical monitoring, be followed within Permanent Access to Health Care (PASS) . At PASS I meet a social worker . After discussing my situation with the social worker, I can meet a doctor and carry out the necessary examinations to monitor the progress of my pregnancy without having to pay for the care.
- If I do not have health coverage and my state of health means that care relating to my pregnancy must be carried out in hospital or I give birth in hospital, I must ask to meet a social worker from the 'hospital. The hospital social worker can help me with the steps to benefit from health coverage. Depending on my situation and if I do not have the right to medical coverage, the social worker can prepare a file so that my hospital bill is covered under the Urgent and Vital Care Scheme. : it’s health insurance that pays the bill for me. If I do not meet the social worker or my situation does not allow me to benefit from reimbursement by Health Insurance for my costs, I may receive an invoice from the hospital that I must pay. If I can't pay, I can contact a social worker.
- If I have health insurance , I can also benefit from pregnancy monitoring with a midwife who works in her office, a general practitioner or an obstetrician-gynecologist.
I can download the free NATA application which helps to support the pregnancy monitoring of each pregnant woman according to her social and medical situation, through an informed and secure process. It is available in several languages!
