If I do not have a response to the social housing request and I meet one of the DALO recognition criteria and I do not have a response to my social housing request I can make an appeal. DALO : Enforceable Right to Housing » so that my request is recognized as a priority and urgent. It is advisable not to make a DALO appeal when it has been at least 6 months since I applied for social housing.
In particular, I can be recognized as DALO if :
- I am staying in an emergency accommodation center or in a hotel or I am on the street ;
- If I have been housed in a CHRS for more than 6 months ;
- If I have been housed in a social residence for more than 18 months ;
- If I live in housing that is dangerous for my health or too small for my family and I have children or a person with a disability in my family ;
- If the judge decided to evict me from my home ;
- Etc.
💡 To make a DALO appeal I must complete a form and return it to the Mediation Commission of my Department.
If I am recognized as DALO, I have priority to access housing and the State has 6 months to offer me housing, otherwise I can appeal against the State.
I can get help from a social worker, from associations specializing in housing rights or from general legal services.
If I do not have a response to my request for accommodation in a Social Residence, Young Worker Home, or Young Workers' Residence, I can appeal to DAHO to request priority access to this type of accommodation.
