A CAARUD is a Reception and Support Center for Risk Reduction for Drug Users. It is a fixed premises which offers day care. Some CAARUDs also offer night reception (the “ sleep-in "). I can go to CAARUD even if I do not have health coverage .
Why go to CAARUD ?
I can go to a CAARUD even if I don't necessarily want to stop using drugs. In a CAARUD, I will be able to be helped if I want not to put myself in danger by using: I will be able to have sterile equipment (syringes, crack pipes, condoms), information on risk reduction, participate to discussion groups...
Which professionals I can meet in a CAARUD ?
The reception centers allow you to meet multidisciplinary teams made up of social and health professionals (nurses, psychologists, doctors). They are trained in the problems of drug users in very precarious situations.
